Near Telluride, a frightening construction accident raises concern

We often use this blog to highlight the very real dangers that many Colorado residents face when they are on the job.

One of the most dangerous fields of employment out there today is construction. To greatly simplify it, there are so many large machines, heavy materials and people doing many different tasks all at once that construction accidents are far too common.

Recently, near Telluride, a tanker truck tipped over and spilled an estimated 7,000 pounds of liquid asphalt.

Now, authorities are still investigating the accident, so we don't know what happened, if anyone is to blame or if it was freak accident. Regardless, it's a gripping story that illustrates the hazards of working in the building, construction and roadwork industries. From what we know, no one was injured in the accident and that's a real stroke of luck. Obviously, accidents like this have the very real potential of causing some unsuspecting person a great deal of harm.

Our Denver office regularly works with clients who have been hurt while working. Most people have a vague understanding of what worker's compensation is, but when it comes time for them to need it, they are not sure where to start.

In many cases, an attorney who regularly works with worker's compensation matters can be of great help. If you're looking for such an attorney, you should make your final decision as to who will represent you only after very careful consideration. If you are interested in more relevant information about our approach, you could visit our Worker's Compensation page. What you find there might help you as you go about the information-gathering process.
