Death benefits claim possible following Colorado explosion

A Colorado family may pursue financial assistance through the workers' compensation insurance system for the state in the aftermath of a workplace tragedy. A claim for death benefits may be appropriate following the recent death of a construction worker. Authorities say this was the third fatality within two months that could be linked to oil and gas properties owned by Anadarko in Colorado.

Due to ongoing investigations, few details about the incident that occurred on a recent Thursday were made available. However, it was announced that a fire broke out after an explosion at an oil tank battery close to Mead. The fire caused the death of a 32-year-old employee, and burn injuries to three more. Authorities say the workers who were at the battery when it caught fire were busy with maintenance duties.

Reportedly, laboratory tests will determine the cause of the fire, and it might take up to 30 days for those results to be ready for analysis. Several state and local authorities are involved in the investigation into the cause of the explosion. Along with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the National Transportation Safety Bureau, the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission will provide assistance with the technical matters of oil and gas-related operations.

While the investigators focus on finding answers, the surviving family members of the man who lost his life in this explosion will have to cope with the high costs of end of life arrangements and the loss of his income. They can file death benefits claims for financial assistance. Similarly, those who suffered burn injuries can claim benefits to cover medical expenses and lost wages.
