Baskin-Robbins employee pinned when car comes crashing into store

When Colorado employees head to work in the morning, they don't expect that they will be crushed by a car barreling through their workplace. Sadly, these accidents happen in Denver and across the country, sometimes seriously injuring workers.

In this story, an employee at a Baskin-Robbins ice cream parlor suffered injuries on the morning of June 30 when a car smashed into the store. The driver of that vehicle had been attempting to reverse her car in order to leave a parking space in the store's lot when she mistakenly put the car into the wrong gear, moving forward instead. This unusual on-the-job injury wound up pinning the employee against the store's counter.

The accident occurred at approximately 8:20 a.m. when the motorist started moving across the sidewalk in front of the store, plowing into one of the building's support pillars, and eventually hitting the store's counter after shattering a front glass window.

The injured employee was the only one present in the building at the time of the accident and was just getting ready to open the store. She was trapped by the car between the store's counter and the wall of the building. Emergency responders from a nearby firehouse rushed to the scene of the accident. Since the roof of the building was sagging from the force of the collision, they struggled to extricate both the motorist and the store employee from the wreckage.

The store employee suffered painful injuries to her hip. She was transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance where she was evaluated and treated by medical personnel.
