Man seriously injured in construction fall

Recently, a construction worker was injured while on the job. As of right now, it is not clear whether he was on a roof or a ladder just prior to falling approximately 20 feet. Luckily, other crew members on the scene report that the man was conscious and able to talk directly after the fall. The man was transported to a hospital to receive treatment for his injuries

At this point, it is unknown what injuries this man suffered when he was injured at work. Since he was conscious and verbal, it may be that he escaped from suffering a brain injury.

On the other hand, bleeding and swelling in the brain can sometimes worsen over time. Also, whenever a fall is involved it is very possible that a neck or back injury may result. Fall victims are particularly susceptible to spinal cord injuries as well.

It is possible that the construction business did not properly safeguard its workers from falls by offering fall protection or properly training its employees in working at heights.

In any event, generally speaking if the worker is unable to work and has incurred medical expenses not otherwise covered by his insurance, then he may be able entitled to collect workers' compensation benefits, such as lost wages and medical benefits.

Workers' compensation laws in Colorado are very complex, which is why injured workers may need assistance in obtaining any benefits they are entitled to receive. Remember, insurance adjusters do not have your best interests in mind when handling injured worker claims, so if you have been injured, you need an advocate who does.
