Denver construction-site accident sends worker to the hospital

On Behalf of | Jun 13, 2013 | Workplace Injuries |

The Denver police are reporting a tragic workplace accident that happened earlier this week near the intersection of 22nd and Blake streets. The Denver construction-site accident injured an unnamed worker, requiring his or her hospitalization. There is still very little information about the accident, but it does appear that the construction worker was hurt while on the job.

It is of vital importance that drivers in Denver pay attention to the construction workers that are working on the roads and buildings around the city. Although it can be frustrating to have to deal with traffic and construction, not driving safely around construction workers can lead to very serious injuries and, in the worst cases, death. Ultimately, however, it is the responsibility of the employer to help protect its employees from dangerous working conditions.

Even after an employer has done everything to protect its workers, however, there are still accidents. Sometimes drivers drive through barriers and strike someone. Sometimes a car will hit something, causing a chain reaction that ends up with something falling on an employee. Regardless of who, if anyone, is at fault, it is important for injured employees to know that they can still file for workers’ compensation.

Although it is unknown if the injured construction worker is expected to survive his or her injuries or not, the cost of medical care and all of his or her lost wages can be covered by workers’ compensation benefits. By working with a lawyer, the worker and his or her family members can work to apply for and receive benefits.
